Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has said he was “dramatically bored” by the discussion of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.
Mith’s rock strike after the comedian’s attempted joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s expense, caused consternation and stole the headline at the 94th Academy Awards.
Rock made a joke about Pinkett-Smith’s short haircut, which was due to alopecia caused by an illness, prompting Will to walk up to Rock on stage and slap him in the face while the eyes of the world watched in shock.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Radcliffe said: “I saw it. I’m just so bored of hearing people’s opinions on this that I just don’t want to be a different opinion that contributes.
The actor said he was also at his wits end during awards season when Harry Potter took the world by storm.
“When you did stuff as a kid, you were never quite sure if the joke was on you or you’re the butt of the joke,” he said.
“So you only have a moment where you’re like, ‘I’m just going to keep smiling and laughing and hopefully this will end soon’.”
Many celebrities have commented on the slap, which was heard around the world, with Jim Carrey calling those in attendance “spineless” for applauding Smith as he rejoined the stage minutes later to accept the Best Actor award.

Smith himself has apologized to Chris Rock, saying he “reacted emotionally” because a joke at his wife’s expense was “too much to take.” Smith said, “Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive.”
Pinkett-Smith called for a “season of healing” following the incident, while Chris Rock has not commented publicly on the matter.
Comedians and actors including Adam Sandler, Wanda Sykes and many others rallied around Chris Rock after the incident. An Academy Awards committee was set to meet to decide whether Smith would be stripped of his first Oscar.
