Danny Welbeck says Albion can absorb the loss of two key players – and become an even closer unit.
The Seagulls forward has signed a new two-year deal in a summer that saw transfers from Marc Cucurella and Yves Bissouma.
Welbeck said: “They don’t really want to lose those two players but it happened so there’s not much we can do.
“We can’t make a fuss or sulk about it.
“What we are doing now as a group may bring us even closer together.
“We know that everyone here now is the people who are going to fight for each other on the pitch.
“We take that and try to build on that, difficult as it may be, because these are two top players.
“Really good guys too, so personally I’m really happy that they’re getting the opportunity to go to these big clubs and show their talent.
“They’re going to play Champions League football, which is massive.
“I’m really happy for them personally but as a club I’m a bit upset as a Brighton player!”
Welbeck’s new contract will extend his time with the Seagulls to four seasons.
He said BBC Radio 5 Live: “Brighton as a club is full of good people from top to bottom.
“They take care of everyone involved in the club.
“The facilities are fantastic, great manager to play under and it’s a good squad, very hungry players, people willing to improve every day.
“Being part of that process and trying to take the club to the next level is something I look forward to over the next two years.”
