Dara Ó Briain says Mock The Week was ‘a joy and an honor’ on regular finale

Dara Ó Briain said Mock The Week was “an absolute pleasure and honor” as he wrapped up the last regular episode of the long-running theme comedy show.

he humorously said the show had been “a blast” and joked that it had left the UK “much more stable, prosperous and happy” than when the first episode aired.

The iconic show Ó Briain and Hugh Dennis featured panelists Angela Barnes, Alasdair Beckett-King, Rhys James, Zoe Lyons and Ahir Shah, all dressed in formal attire for the recording.

As part of the final special, Ó Briain took to the stage to take part in the Wheel Of News segment and perform a short stand routine.

Dennis took the chair when Ó Briain was presented with the topics of “losing a job”, “finding a new job” and “retirement”.

The panelists then exchanged gifts, with Dennis, who has starred in every episode of the show, receiving a commemorative plaque that read “so good for doing Mock The Week”.

At the end of the show, Ó Briain said: “We’ve been in the last 17 years, we’ve done 232 episodes with 131 comedians.

“I’m Dara O Briain, good night.”
