Seriously coming to Dancing it looks like there will be a popularity crisis in the upcoming 20th season as two of the show’s biggest stars have left the series.

Earlier this year, Oti Mabuse hurt fans of the BBC’s longstanding dance competition when she revealed she would be quitting the show after seven years of service.

And now, just weeks later, lost dancer Aljaž Škorjanec has revealed that he too is hanging up his dance shoes after a full nine years after the series.

This decision could send Serious into a ratings crisis as both 31-year-old Oti and 32-year-old Aljaž are the most popular characters among viewers.

In a social media post, the star wrote: “On a sunny day in May 2013, one phone call changed my life forever!

“It doesn’t matter how many beautiful ballrooms I’ve performed throughout my career, stepping on the sacred floor is the time I’m most nervous about.

“A little while ago, I made the difficult decision that Seriously 2021 will be my last year. The show has given me the opportunity and freedom to create and express myself in front of millions of people every weekend for the past 9 years.

“The love and support I received from the team of producers was second to none. Louise Rainbow, Sarah James, Kim Winston, Jack Gledhill are just a few of the unsung heroes behind the show’s success – I’m forever grateful to them! ”

Oti has won Seriously twice – first in 2019 with soap star Kelvin Fletcher, and then again the following year with comedian Bill Bailey.

While Aljaž won his first series in 2013 when he competed alongside model Abbey Clancy.
