Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl surprised Glastonbury followers when he took to the stage and appeared to sport a tattoo in tribute to his late drummer friend Taylor Hawkins.
American artist Grohl, 53, flew in from the United States to join music legend Sir Paul McCartney on the stage Last night (Saturday), the Beatles legend made history as the oldest artist ever to hit the headlines at the iconic music event.
The festival appearance marks the first time the former Nirvana star has performed in public since band member Hawkins died suddenly in March, while the Foo Fighters were touring Colombia.
And eagle-eyed fans back home reacted to Grohl’s tattoo showing a large ‘T’ on the back of his right hand, seemingly a tribute to the late friend. and his bandmates.

The singer publicly pointed at her ink-stained hand while embracing fellow artist Bruce Springsteen, who also guest starred in the Liverpudlian singer’s photo shoot.
One fan tweeted: ”Dave Grohl pointed to the Taylor Hawkins tribute tattoo on his arm at the end of the #PaulMcCartney photo shoot that almost ended me. RIP Hawk. ”
Another said: “The adorable moment at the end of the #PaulMcCartney pictorial when #DaveGrohl pointed at his arm and showed the T-tattoo for #TaylorHawkins so much missed.”
“Dave Grohl’s loving ‘T’ tattoo on the back of his hand… .. #Taylorhawkins with him every time he plays guitar on stage now,” one person said.

Welcoming Grohl to the Pyramid stage, Sir Paul told the crowd: “I have a little surprise for you. My friend from the West Coast of America, Dave Grohl.”
The Foo Fighters leader said he’s faced setbacks after two of his flights were cancelled, but is determined not to miss the historic event.
Sir Paul and Grohl entertained the crowd with a string of songs including Band On The Run, before Springsteen appeared for his guest spot.

As they finished performing together, Sir Paul said: “Love you Dave, thank you to the man we all love. Ladies and gentlemen again – Dave Grohl.”
Later this year, The Foo Fighters also honored the late Hawkins bandmate with tribute concerts at Wembley Stadium in London.
Hawkins, 50, was found dead in his hotel room in Colombia on March 25. No cause of death has been released but a toxicology report shows traces of 10 different substances. in his body – including opioids, marijuana, and antidepressants.
