David Baddiel has reunited with Lightning Seeds for a special performance of the Three Lions football anthem for England fans ahead of the Euro final against Germany.

At the end of the band’s performance at the Camden Palace Ballroom on Saturday, they sang the classic football song with altered lyrics to celebrate the Lionesses’ success in the tournament to date.

They were joined on stage by singer and footballer Chelcee Grimes as well as former England soccer stars Fara Williams, Anita Asante, Rachel Yankey, Faye White and Rachel Brown-Finnis to perform the special edition. .

The Lionesses got the crowd in the celebratory mood ahead of their appearance in Sunday’s Women’s Euro final against Germany at Wembley Stadium.

Comedian Frank Skinner, who recorded the 1996 hit with Baddiel and rock band Lightning Seeds, was unable to join the group on stage on Saturday due to unforeseen circumstances but was cheered on from the sidelines.

“I was very upset not being there, but Chelcee and the Lions legends did an incredible job on stage with Dave and the Lightning Seeds,” said Skinner.

“All we need now is a win in the final. Come on England! “

Singer-songwriter Grimes, who has played for several teams including Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, fills in the name Skinner.

She said: “It has been a great buzz to be a part of this unique National Lottery show and sing our hearts out in support of the Lionesses.

“The unique performance of this popular fan song is something I will never forget. I never thought I would be on stage with my heroes.”
