David Bowie wears a space suit among musical memorabilia under the hammer

The Major Tom spacesuit worn by David Bowie in the music video for Ashes To Ashes is one of the rare more than £1million worth of memorabilia to go on sale next month.

More than 1,500 lots, including around 500 pieces of music, will be sold at Propstore’s auction at Bafta headquarters in Piccadilly, London, from 3 to 6 November.

The collection includes merchandise from The Beatles, Oasis, Michael Jackson, Sex Pistols, Blur, Rihanna and the Spice Girls, from clothing to autographed posters.

Bowie’s space suit, the defining stylistic motif in his 1980 music video, is estimated to sell for between £60,000 and £80,000.

According to Propstore, the sale features one of the largest collections of Oasis memorabilia to have been auctioned in the UK, including Noel Gallagher’s sparkling silver Gibson Les Paul Florentine guitar, which can range in price from 300,000 to 500,000 pounds.

There’s also a stage parka by Liam Gallagher (£10,000-£15,000) and a trio of acoustic guitars from the Wonderwall video (£150,000-£250,000).

A plaid jacket worn by Sir Paul McCartney on the Morecambe And Wise Show can cost £25,000-$35,000 and a Nirvana playlist handwritten by drummer Dave Grohl on the band’s Nevermind tour, plus a ticket stubs, valued at between £5,000 and £7,000.

Elsewhere, Whitney Houston’s “The Dark Queen” outfit from her film The Bodyguard can cost between £40,000-$60,000.

An application for a gun license signed by Elvis Presley has received an estimated £40,000-$60,000.
