Two beloved Doctor Who characters have been confirmed to return to the show, just a week after Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa was revealed as the Fourteenth Doctor.
The BBC has confirmed that David Tennant and Catherine Tate are both set to join the show, reprising their roles as the Tenth Doctor and his sidekick Donna Noble.
Doctor Who’s return host, Russell T Davies, said: “They’re back! And it seems impossible – first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, with the wonderful Donna. What the hell is going on?”
“Maybe this is a flawed story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it will be spectacular, when two of our greatest stars reunite in the battle of life. “
When are David Tennant and Catherine Tate returning to Doctor Who?

David Tennant and Catherine Tate will return to Doctor Who for its 60th anniversary, the BBC has announced.
Tennant, 51, who first landed the role of Tenth Time Lord in 2005, and Tate, 52, who plays companion Donna, are reportedly set to film scenes for Doctor Who to air. in 2023.
The Tenth Doctor and Donna parted ways when the Doctor had to erase Donna’s memory to save her life, with the final episode airing on New Year’s Day 2010.
The duo will reunite in Doctor Who, set 12 years later, also appearing alongside host Russell T Davies for the first time since the final episodes of Tennant, The End Of Time Parts 1 and 2. aired in 2009 and 2010.
Tennant appeared in the 50th anniversary special The Day Of The Doctor, alongside Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and John Hurt. Both he and Tate previously reunited in an audio television series Tenth Doctor for Big Finish.
Will Matt Lucas join Doctor Who again?

Fans have speculated that Matt Lucas could also return alongside David Tennant and Catherine Tate for Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary.
Lucas has played Nardole in The Husband of the River Song, The Return of Doctor Mysterio, and throughout the tenth series of Doctor Who on television. He also voices Cylinder and Jelloid in Big Finish Doctor Who’s The One Doctor audio story.
There hasn’t been any confirmation of his arrival yet, but the announcement of Tennant and Tate’s return has led fans to speculate that Matt Lucas could return as well.
