Davina McCall has shocked some of her fans after posting a picture of her swimming inches from a giant great white shark.

The 54-year-old TV presenter has been posting snaps from her sunny holiday in recent days, but fans rushed to the comments section to express their fears after revealing there may have been a near-death situation.

While Davina happily swims in a white bikini, the photo shows a giant killer shark poised to attack just below the surface – but of course there’s a twist to what’s being shown.

Davina isn’t actually in any danger at all as the shark was clipped into the picture by a friend, but that revelation hadn’t stopped a crowd of concerned fans from sending the star a message.

The Long Lost Family presenter was on vacation with her partner, celebrity hairstylist Michael Douglas.

She stunned her followers by posing in a white bikini that showed off her toned physique.

However, the latest snap was too much for some, who believed Davina was playing the death dice with her closeness to the ocean-going killer.

One fan commented on the photo: “This scares me and reminds me why I won’t swim far out in the sea!”

Another added: “This is absolutely terrifying.”

While another wrote: “The real reason I never swim in the sea.”

Davina tried to calm fans’ nerves by adding to the post’s caption that the shark was an “edit” and wasn’t actually there when she swam.

Davina recently opened up about maintaining her youthful figure, and it’s not all down to yoga.

She said: “Getting older is brilliant because it makes you feel happier in your own skin. By the time you reach a certain age, chances are you’ve had a job for a long time and you’re really good at it.

“I’ve interviewed so many people now that I know I’m a safe couple. At that age we have all learned so much – although there is still much to learn.”

Davina added: “People say you shouldn’t do weight training in your 70’s – bullshit! It’s great for osteoporosis. You know, you shouldn’t let anyone tell you what to do and what not to do.”

A big sacrifice, says Davina, “that she still mourns” is cheese.

“My half-sister and I lived together for a long time and I remember our favorite meal was a ‘picky plate’ of assorted meats, cheese, French bread and tons of butter.

“Now I very rarely eat cheese, apart from a sprinkling of Parmesan on my pasta or at Christmas time – I definitely see it more as a treat now.”
