Days of Our Lives will bring his soapy drama to Peacock

LOS ANGELES — Days of Our Lives is moving to Peacock.

The long-running NBC soap opera will officially move to the NBCUniversal streaming platform starting September 12. It has aired on NBC since it first started in 1965.

Currently, the show airs daily on NBC, while past episodes are available to stream on Peacock. Peacock previously aired the spin-off Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem in September, and a second part of that series aired on Peacock in July. The spinoff film Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas aired in December.


Also beginning September 12, NBC News Daily will begin airing on all NBC networks in the slots formerly occupied by Days of Our Lives. The hour-long program will be hosted by the NBC News team, including Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen and Morgan Radford. It will also stream simultaneously on NBC News NOW and Peacock.

“This programming change benefits both Peacock and NBC and reflects our broader strategy of leveraging our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen viewer engagement,” said Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “With a large percentage of the ‘Days of Our Lives’ audience already watching digitally, this move allows us to build the show’s loyal fan base via streaming while complementing the network’s daily offering with an urgent live programming opportunity for partners and consumers strengthen.”

Days of Our Lives has been renewed for seasons 57 and 58 on NBC in 2021. The series celebrated its 55th anniversary in 2020. In December 2020 her 14,000. episode aired and remains NBC’s longest-running series. Set in the fictional Midwestern town of Salem, the nuclear families are the Bradys, Hortons, Carvers, DiMeras, and Kiriakises.

This marks the most recent move from a legacy broadcast show to a streaming platform. ABC previously announced that “Dancing with the Stars” would be leaving the network in favor of Disney+. Season 31 of the show will now debut on this streaming service in September. CBS has also moved its shows SEAL Team and Evil to the Paramount+ streaming platform ahead of their new seasons.
