The writers of Deadpool 3 have hinted that the sequel in the series will be as explosive, outrageous, funny and violent as the previous one – even though the franchise is now owned by Disney.
Ryan Reynolds’ pre-X-Men hit series exploded at the box office in 2016 when the first film was released with an ‘R-Rating’ – the US equivalent of 18.
This rating came as a surprise to moviegoers at the time as it would limit who could see the film – but the film went on to become a commercial hit despite and spawned a second chapter as well. equally quirky and bloody in 2018.
Since then, fans have eagerly awaited a third season, but were concerned that the content could be offloaded due to Disney’s takeover of the original 20th Century Fox studio.
Now in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The writers of Deadpool 3 have assured fans that the rat house is backing their dream of making another R-rated movie.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick explained, “It’s thrilling to have the band back together, to have a new setting in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that sort of thing.
“You know, it’s never a marriage that we necessarily see coming – Fox and Disney, that’s an outsider thing. [separate] from our storytelling. But we totally find luck and gold in that situation, or we’re trying. ”
“They were very supportive of that,” continued Rhett.
“Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe at some point we hear, ‘Maybe not that joke.’
“But I think they’ve been extremely supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we’ve been doing it separately from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen success and they has had even greater success .
“So hopefully it will be a marriage made in heaven. But we definitely have their support, and it’s a great thing to feel. ”
After Disney acquired Fox in 2017, some fans feared the Deadpool series would be cut out altogether or rebooted in a more family-friendly direction.
However, Marvel movie boss Kevin Feige explained in January 2021 that the series would be allowed to continue with a more adult theme – but added that it would be incorporated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe including the films. blockbusters like Thor, Avengers and Doctor Strange.
He said: “We have some announced stuff that we have to work on now, but it’s exciting that it’s started. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is one. force of nature, it’s amazing to see him bring that character to life.”
