Deadpool is En Fuego in Latest Midnight Suns Showcase
Insert the obligatory reference to breaking the fourth wall here.
With Deadpool’s debut in Marvel’s Midnight Suns just around the corner, we’ve finally gotten a full look at exactly how it works. Needless to say, its mechanics are tailor-made to embody the dynamic qualities of the Merc with a Mouth.
In a showcase video from the developers, it was revealed that Deadpool’s playstyle will revolve around his unique “en fuego” characteristics. KOing enemies build up a meter that eventually yields a deck of En Fuego that modifies the cards in his hand. The more stacks he keeps, the greater his potential damage output, making him a powerful offensive weapon once the necessary conditions are met.
In turn, he loses effectiveness as he takes damage, meaning he’s best paired with tanks that can help divert attention. Amusingly, this gives him great in-game chemistry with Wolverine; something we can only assume would annoy Logan to no end.
Fear not, his regenerative qualities are still intact in Midnight Suns as Wade comes equipped with a passive ability that he uses to restore health. Again, this is boosted by his current stash of stacked El Fuegos.
With so much of his methodology tied into this particular mechanic, Deadpool will likely serve as a high-risk, high-reward character that requires precise team building surrounding him with support units that can allow him to thrive. Somehow that sounds like the most appropriate way they could have implemented this unique pest.
Deadpool crashes at the Midnight Suns party on January 26 as the first of four announced DLC characters. His involvement in the game, of course, was spearheaded by none other than himself.
