DEATH In Paradise viewers were left devastated as Sergeant Florence Cassell left this evening and fans feared she could be “killed”.

The detective – played by Josephine Jobert – has decided to leave San Marie on a secret mission in Jamaica.

Fans fear that Florence will be ‘dead’ in next week’s season

In tonight’s episode, Florence struggled with her decision and initially turned down the role.

But after opening her heart to Commissioner Selwyn Patterson and some words of wisdom from Neville about facing your fears, Florence agreed to the new job.

Florence returns to the place where her fiancé Patrice was murdered and tells Commissioner Patterson that a part of her died losing him.

Florence heartbrokenly told him: “I really want this job but I feel angry because I am so scared.”

“Don’t be, fear can keep you safe,” the Commissioner reassured her.

“But it can imprison you,” she commented.

The commissioner explained that he could withhold the decision until she was absolutely certain.

Neville later brought Florence back to her senses when he decided to face his fears and jump out of a place as part of an investigation.

After deciding to face her own fears, Florence accepted the role and said an emotional goodbye to Neville.

Viewers couldn’t help but be heartbroken to witness Florence leaving San Marie.

Fans have also shared their horror that Florence could be “killed” after a preview clip for next week showed a gun pointed at her by murder suspect Miranda Priestley.

Neville and the group then hear gunshots and race to save her – but is it too late?
