Death threats as Love Island’s Luca Bish and Gemma Owen hit the rocks

THE family of a Love Island contestant say they received death threats after last night’s episode.

Luca Bish, a 23-year-old fishmonger from Rottingdean, is currently partnered with Gemma Owen on the TV dating show.

After a tumultuous episode on Sunday night, his family said they had received death threats on his social media accounts.

In the episode, Luca and Gemma got into a fight after watching clips of each other during “Movie Night.”

After seeing Gemma with another man, Luca said: “I can’t be with someone like that.”

The segment allows attendees to see clips of antics that happened as new people join the show.

During Friday’s episode, Luca watched a clip of Gemma suggesting her head could be turned by someone else and “flirted” with newcomer Billy Brown in the kitchen.

On Sunday’s episode, she appeared in a separate conversation with Billy in the clip titled Good Bill Hunting.

After seeing the video, Luca said: “I’m telling you now, I don’t even want to speak to her.

“I fucking cook. I’m not going anywhere near that bird buddy. Bring me the damn bird in, watch me and then flirt.

“Trust me when I say if she tries to downplay me I’m going to fucking explode. I can’t be with someone like that, sorry.”

Pointing to his snake tattoo, Luca added, “Look at this tattoo on my chest, that’s her.”

At the beach hut, Gemma said: “I don’t really know where he’s from. I think everything I did was fine, I stand by it, I think it wasn’t that deep at all and everyone just has to move on with it.

After sharing a chilly silence in the corridor after movie night, Luca told Gemma “I’m not happy” and “You entertained it,” which Gemma vehemently denied.

Calling Billy to the fire pit to join them, Luca asked, “Do you feel like she’s flirting with you?” with Billy responding, “Yeah, it was just flirting banter.”

Gemma said: “Did we have a flirty chat? Yes.”

Luca replied, “But a minute ago you said you didn’t have a flirt chat, you literally said I don’t flirt.”

As the conversation continued, Gemma said: “I don’t think lines have been crossed.”

Just before the episode aired, Luca’s family published a story encouraging the public to be kind to the contestants.

The Argos:

Luca’s social media is managed by his sister Claudia, who also lives in Rottingdean while he’s on the show.

She later revealed on his Instagram page that she had received death threats through direct messages.

They wrote: “Please please please stop message abuse. Luca can’t even see it… the people who love him the most can.

“I just got sick from crying so much at the death threats (an hour after that last story). How can people be so inhuman.”

Twitter users used the platform throughout the episode to post comments, as is usually the case throughout the series.

One said: “I’m actually trying to summarize what Gemma did wrong.”

While another also commented, referring to Gemma’s footballer dad Michael Owen: “Luca gets so mad when he’s sh***ing and goading the boys at Casa.

“It’s really scary because Gemma hasn’t done anything and he’s massively overreacting.

“M Owen needs to come in and protect his daughter from this man.”

One woman said: “Luca is a walking red flag… if Gemma stays with him beyond the villa she will be so closed off and controlled it’s a recipe for emotional prison #narcissistic.”

Good Morning Britain presenter Ed Balls was less than impressed with Luca’s reaction to Gemma and Billy’s “flirting”.

The former politician discussed the latest episode of Love Island while hosting the GMB alongside Ranvir Singh on Monday and he didn’t hold back his reaction.

“I thought for the first week or so Gemma, Michael Owen’s daughter, was off to a bad start, but actually I think she did really well,” Ed said.

“Luca, last night was catastrophic. What has he done?

“They’re on a show called Love Island, right? They should flirt with each other.

“Luca and Gemma got along very well, they were separated in different villas.

“From what I can tell Gemma had a pretty mild chat with Billy and Luca last night was ‘I’ve been scammed no bird treats me like that’. It was awful.”
