The former BBC presenter, 40, who has been battling bowel cancer since 2016, spoke of her husband in a sweet Instagram post on Wednesday as she spent her final days alongside her family. his loved one.

Deborah, who shares son Hugo, 14, and daughter Eloise, 12, with Sebastian, admits she wouldn’t be able to fight through her battle with bowel cancer if it weren’t for her husband’s strength.

Along with a stunning photo of the smiling couple at RHS Garden Wisley, Deborah wrote: “Seb hit me (a small but worthwhile task) at dawn to @rhswisley in front of all the crowd to say that the book launch was done well, and it was just perfect in an hour.

The brave star revealed she hasn’t left the house for 10 days because she’s ‘too weak’, but her husband has encouraged her to find joy in the adventure.

Deborah continued: “I love that this photo reminds me of the green life around me, despite the sadness of knowing the state of my body inside.

“But Seb was a total rock to me and instead, we seemed to be able to squeeze each other’s hands, swallow our tears and laugh.”

Deborah’s loving post comes ten days after she wrote a heartbreaking ‘goodbye’ to her supportive fans after being admitted to hospice on May 9.

“The message I never wanted to write. We tried everything, but my body simply couldn’t play the ball,” she wrote.

“My intensive care has stopped and I’m now moving into hospice care at home, with my wonderful family around me and the focus on making sure I’m pain-free and spending time with them.”

“No one knows how much longer I have but I can’t walk, I sleep most days, and most of the things I take for granted are pipe dreams. I know we didn’t leave a stone behind. anyway,” she continued.

“But even with all the advanced cancer drugs in the world or some miraculous new breakthrough, my body just couldn’t keep going.”

Deborah has been awarded a Damehood



In the past ten days, Deborah has been awarded the Damehood and has raised nearly £5 million for bowel cancer.

The Bowelbabe Foundation for Cancer Research UK is Deborah’s last of many efforts to support bowel cancer research.

The fundraising website reads: “All proceeds will be distributed, with the support of CRUK [Cancer Research UK] sponsor causes and projects that I really care about,”
