Deborah James breaks down in tears on BBC Breakfast as she says her children will be ‘fine’ when she dies

Deborah James shed tears as she recalled the “tough conversations” she had with her children about her death.

The presenter, 40, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016 and over the years has been heavily involved in charity work to raise funds for cancer research and raise awareness through the campaign ITV’s No Butts.

On Monday night, Deborah revealed that she is receiving hospice care and that she is spending her final days surrounded by family and friends.

She has now decided to return home for hospice care there.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast This Morning, she said: “I always say I don’t want to leave any stones behind – I don’t think there are stones that we don’t try to remove to help our liver. I’m active again so my body works.

“Unfortunately, I’m exhausted – I’m completely exhausted. Now we’ve reached the point where I can’t really do anything more.”

She continued as she started to cry: “I have a really loving family, people that I love dearly. Honestly, they’re incredible.”
