Beat the Chasers contestant reveals question link to The Chase

Beat The Chasers host Bradley Walsh was surprised when a contestant on the ITV series dropped a bomb.

Contestant Lynn Barton revealed she’s no stranger to the show, sharing a secret link to the main show, The Chase.

Bradley was clearly shocked when Lynn informed him that she had appeared as a cash builder question on ITV quiz show years ago.

He doesn’t fully believe her, until she reveals what the question is and he soon realizes what she means.

When the show started, Lynn was the first contestant on the third episode and Bradley asked what she’d done career wise.

Lynn told him, “I’m retired now but I’m an airline pilot. I’m retired and for the last five years I’ve been the captain on a jumbo, yes,”

She later revealed that she has a gin cocktail named after her, but this isn’t her only claim to fame.

Lynn told Bradley: “Another high point was that I did a quiz on The Chase, years ago.”

Shocked Bradley tells her, “No, you don’t,” to which she replies, “I did!

“It’s a cash builder where you ask a contestant what Lynn Barton was the first person to do in British Airways in 1987, and of course the answer was to become a female pilot.”

The host looked surprised, as the Chasers applauded Lynn and at last Bradley replied, “Love that.”

Lynn confessed: “My mom, she loved it,” with Bradley adding: “I bet!”

Sadly, Lynn was unsuccessful and she lost her £25,000 winnings, leaving just 9 seconds on the Chasers’ watch.

As Bradley said his goodbyes, he shared how emotional he was when he met someone who was a question mark on The Chase.

He told her, “I’d love to meet you in person, get asked on the show, and finally get to meet you. Thank you very much.”

She replied, “Nice to meet you as well as Bradley”, Jenny Ryan called her “an icon”.

Viewers were just as stunned as Bradley by her link to The Chase, taking to Twitter about her confession.

One fan commented: “Lynn has a question about her on #TheChase? She should be on the celebrity edition then.”

Another said: “Lynn was once a question on #TheChase and now on #BeatTheChasers. Genealogy quiz you!”

A third added: “Wow, this is awesome! It’s weird to go on #BeatTheChasers and be the subject of a question on The Chase.”

This was echoed by a fan Wednesday, who commented, “Isn’t that cool!” as another wrote: “That’s great.”
