One of the biggest celebrities in the country, Denise Van Outen’s love life has played out in the public eye over the years.
Earlier this week, the 47-year-old mother-of-one opened up about calling off her wedding to Eddie Boxshall.
After years of heartbreak, Denise seemed to have finally found her match with the commodity trader who starred alongside her on Gogglebox.
However, Denise was blindsided by allegations that Eddie had been sending messages to other women.
Denise told Radio 2 listeners about her decision to end her engagement: “The only thing I’m really proud of myself is that I know when to leave and I don’t like being taken advantage of.”
As the Celebrity Gogglebox star is enjoying life as a single woman again, let’s take a look back at some of the loves of her life since she rose to fame in the ’90s.
Denise’s first big relationship in the spotlight came in the late ’90s when the then-Big Breakfast host began a romance with one of the world’s biggest pop stars, Jay Kay.
The TV personality dated the Jamiroquai frontman from 1998 until their split in 2001, breaking off their engagement just months before they were due to tie the knot.
Jay, 52, spoke before their split, apparently hinting that the couple were struggling to find the time to spend quality time together due to their hectic work schedules.
“If Denise and I spend five days together, that’s a bonus. We hardly see each other because of our schedules,” he explained.
“We might go out every now and then and when we do, we’re always recognized. Some people notice Denise and have no idea who I am.”
Following their split, Denise claimed she and the Cosmic Girl singer are still on good terms, telling the Mirror: “Jay and I are still really good friends and people speculate so much as to why we broke up.
“The reason was work related but we are both still happy and still speaking.

Following Jay’s split, it was reported that Denise had a brief romance with fellow actor and filmmaker Nick Moran in 2001.
Throughout his career, Nick, 53, has appeared in major Hollywood films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and II.
However, their relationship was not to be, and the two stars split shortly after they first started dating.
However, their romance was short-lived and the couple broke up not long after.
Denise then dated Richard Traviss — she even got engaged to the nightclub owner in 2003 — but the couple never made it down the aisle and eventually broke up.
During their two-year relationship, Richard often treated the star to lavish gifts – he once reportedly sent her 100 red roses before the opening night of one of their West End stations.
The couple were even planning to move in together, and a pal told the Daily Mail at the time: “They bought a beautiful two storey flat in Marylebone – very close to where Madonna lives with Guy Ritchie – which they have decorated in the past few months.
“They want it absolutely perfect and didn’t want to move in until all the work was done – now they plan to move in early December.”
However, their engagement bliss turned to heartbreak, and the couple split in 2005, with Denise telling ES Magazine, “We still talk and we’re still great friends.”
Denise and Lee Mead’s love story began when the two stars met on the 2007 talent show Any Dream Will Do.
When the BBC series aimed to find the next star of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Denise was in charge of hosting the hunt for a future leading man.
Shortly after contestant Lee was crowned the winner and bagged his first West End lead, he and presenter Denise struck up a romance and began dating.
The happy couple tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed their daughter Betsy into the world the following year, but their relationship ended in 2013.
“After continued speculation, Denise Van Outen and Lee Mead are sad to confirm that they have decided to part ways,” a rep for the star said at the time.
“The couple remain best friends, with their daughter Betsy coming first. The family is asking for privacy at this time.”
Reflecting on their breakup shortly after, Denise admitted that she was heartbroken over the breakup.
“Oh god I get so hurt. I’m very sensitive when it comes to matters of the heart,” she confessed to You magazine.
She added, “I’ve been distracted with work and I’m obviously a busy mom,” while she and Lee remain co-parents to daughter Betsy.
Denise looked like she found The One in 2014, when a blind date with Eddie Boxshall turned into a romance – with plans to eventually tie the knot.
Throughout their relationship, the former couple gave fans a glimpse of their home life thanks to multiple appearances together on Celebrity Gogglebox.
Just last year, Denise explained how her daughter was “desperate” to see her walk down the aisle and marry Eddie.

“Once we finish our podcast and this terrible lockdown ends, wedding bells will be ringing,” she told Hello Magazine in 2021.
“Betsy really wants us to get married; she tells us that all the time. We want to do it too, surrounded by all our family and friends.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there will be a wedding anytime soon as Denise announced their split earlier this year.
