Depeche Mode’s Andrew Fletcher’s Cause of Death Revealed by the Band

Andrew Fletcher – keyboardist and founding member of Depeche Mode – passed away at the age of 60 last month, with a host of stars paying tribute to the late musician following his death on May 26. 5.

Depeche Mode has announced the cause of death of Andrew Fletcher after the keyboardist and founding member of the band passed away at the age of 60 last month.

In a statement shared on social media, the band revealed that the father of two had died as a result of an aortic dissection – a tear in the main artery from his heart.

“A few weeks ago we received the results from the medical examiners, which Andy’s family has asked us to share with you now. Andy had aortic dissection while at home this morning. May 26,” the announcement read.

“So, although it is very far, too early, he naturally passed without prolonged pain.”

The British electronic band went on to thank fans for their messages of support, writing: “What a strange, sad, disorienting couple of weeks for us here, at least to say the least. We’ve seen and felt all of your love and support, and we know Andy’s family has too.”

They went on to reveal that they marked their bandmate’s passing with “anniversaries of Andy’s life… a beautiful ceremony and gathering with a few tears, but filled with memories great about who Andy is, stories about our time together and some good laughs.”

Andrew – also known as Fletch – founded Depeche Mode with Vince Clarke, Martin Gore and Dave Gahan in Essex in 1980 and they went on to be nominated for five Grammy Awards.

He went on to release 17 albums with Depeche Mode and sell 100 million records worldwide.

The band announced Andrew’s passing on social media on May 26, writing at the time: “We are shocked and overwhelmed with sadness at the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member. family and bandmate Andy” Fletch “Fletcher”.

“Fletch has a real heart of gold and is always there when you need support, lively chat, big smile or cold.

“Our hearts go out to his family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Many celebrities mourned Andrew after his death

The Pet Shop Boys were among Andrew’s musical colleagues to pay tribute to him after his death, writing on Facebook: “We are deeply saddened and shocked that Depeche Mode’s Andy Fletcher has passed away.

“Fletch is a warm, friendly and funny person who loves electronic music and can also give sound advice on the music business. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends. his friends as well as Dave Gahan and Martin Gore. Neil & Chris xx.”

Lol Tolhurst, a founding member of The Cure, also mourned the musician’s passing.

He wrote on Twitter at the time of his death: “Very sad news today. Andy Fletcher of Depeche Mode has passed away. I know Andy and consider him a friend.”

“We crossed many paths as young men. My heart goes out to his family, bandmates and DM fans. RIP Fletch.”
