Dermot Bannon laughed at the fact that he was seen as a sex symbol after turning 50 this year.

During a taped appearance for Angela Scanlon’s ‘Ask Me Anything’ on RTE One tonight, the Dublin architect and host of RTE’s ‘Room to Improve’ was asked how he felt What do you think ‘about this sex symbol?’

He replied: ‘I am scarlet.’

He also revealed that although his home improvement show is very popular, none of his children have ever watched it.

He revealed the last time he tried to get them to watch him on TV was on a flight to Florida when the show was part of the in-flight entertainment.

But even then, they chose to watch Baz Ashmawy’s ’50 Ways to Kill Your Mother’, he said.

Of the celebrity homes he wants to explore, he said Bono would be at the top of his list, followed by RTE GAA reporter Marty Morrissey.

Meanwhile, he revealed one of his favorite rooms in his house is the utility room, where he happily irons as a form of “meditation”.

“I love ironing,” he said.

“On a Sunday evening, I go there and put my headphones on,” he says, adding that if he’s not listening to podcasts, it’s 90s dance music.

He also revealed that he has become a speed ironer somewhat.

“I can wear a shirt in three minutes,” he beamed. “Sometimes I beat my own record.”
