Dermot Kennedy reveals he ‘pulled neck muscles’ after vomiting on horrifying flight

Dermot Kennedy told of a “difficult” plane ride when he was so ill that he contracted muscle spasms in his neck.

His singer-songwriter recalled the horrifying travel story in an Instagram Q&A as he waited for his connecting flight to Denver.

“Have an hour to spare. Give me your questions,” he said as he invited fans to ask him questions.

One follower asked the Dubliner to talk about his “worst flight story” and Dermot didn’t hold back.

He opened up about a time when he went through a whole flight and then had to do a gig right after.

He began: “I think the second time I toured Australia, it was right after Christmas and I got sick on the way to the airport like three times.

“I can’t even tell all the details, it’s horrible.

“I basically had a 16-hour flight and I think I got sick about 30 to 40 times. And then when we got there, we had to play a gig right away.

“When I was singing, I had muscle spasms in my neck because I was sick a lot. It was a tough time, for sure.

“There are a lot of details that I don’t have to say. I don’t want to say them,” he added.

Dermot also thanked fans for their support after Spotify released their annual recap, which shows the top artists and songs users listened to over the past year.

The Giants hitmaker has appeared on thousands of Irish lists and he wanted to show his appreciation to his listeners.

“I just wanted to let you know that I see all the stuff on Spotify that you tagged me with today,” he said on his Instagram Stories.

“The fact that people are listening for thousands of hours, hundreds of millions of streams, is crazy, so thanks.”

At the end of the Q&A session, Dermot said: “What a joy. You are all wonderful people. I’m so glad you’re here. Thanks for supporting the music. A lot of love.
