‘Devastated’ Claudine Keane shares final memories of Robbie Keane’s late mother ahead of today’s funeral

Robbie Keane’s wife Claudine has sent heartfelt thanks to his mother Anne, who passed away earlier this week.

Laudine addressed the post to her “beloved mother-in-law” and shared how “devastated” the family has been since her death.

The mother-of-two reflected on her final memories of Anne Keane in a recent Instagram post, sharing the story of their last meal together at St James’s Hospital.

Claudine said her mother-in-law was her “typically witty self-narrator, cracking jokes and telling stories over the years.”

“I am so grateful for these moments and will cherish these memories,” she added.

“I chose your son Robbie Keane without knowing that loving him would also bring me closer to you, an amazing woman I admire and who was so warm, kind and generous to everyone she met.”

Claudine shared the emotional post with a collection of photos of Anne, her family and grandchildren at a confirmation, LA Galaxy match, dinner and dancing together.

“The strong woman who lost her husband 20 years ago and had the strength to hold the whole family together and put their needs ahead of their own,” Claudine wrote.

“The woman who welcomed me into her family and made me feel loved with all her heart. Words are not enough to express my gratitude and how much you mean to me and my children.

The mother-of-two said the funeral will be held in the church on Thursday with Anne’s “favorite singer Mary Black singing on her final journey home”.

Messages of condolence have flooded the comments section of Claudine’s post and that of her husband Robbie Keane.

“Beautiful words,” said Ireland AM’s Muireann O’Connell, while Rosanna Davison sent her “love” to the family.

Robbie’s father Robert Sr died in 2003 at the age of 50 after a battle with cancer.

In a social media post, Keane called his late mother his “rock.”

Speaking to his mother, Keane said: “You’ve always wondered where I get my resilience from, but after seeing your determination and struggle, despite everything that’s been thrown at you in life and especially in the last few weeks, I know that it was from your mother, you were always so strong, a true warrior.”

A funeral notice for Ms Keane read: ‘Formerly at Glenshane Grove, Dublin 24 and Captain’s Drive, Dublin 12. In the loving care of the staff of St James’s Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Robbie and mother of Natasha, Graham, Rob and Amy. Missing from her loving family, mother-in-law Bernadette, daughters-in-law Eileen and Claudine, sons-in-law Alan and Kyle, grandchildren Lee, Adam, Craig, Abby, Sadie, Robert, Hudson, Charlie and Lucy, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family and Friends.”

Her funeral will be Thursday at 11:30 am with Requiem Mass at St Agnes’s Church, Crumlin Village, followed by burial in Newland’s Cross Cemetery.
