The developer of Shovel Knight has announced a brand new game called Mina the Hollowera Game Boy Color style top-down action adventure.

At the Yacht Club Games Presents event, the developer kicked off a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the new project, which promises a “bone-chilling action adventure” with a redefined 8-bit aesthetic for the modern era.

Yacht Club Games director and designer Alec Faulkner says the studio is returning to Kickstarter to recreate the feel of Shovel Knight’s development, which is also funded through a crowdfunding service. community.

“We want your feedback, collaboration, and support in making Mina the Hollower the best game it can be,” he said. “That’s why we went back to our roots and kicked off the development of Mina the Hollower as a Kickstarter campaign.

“Although we’re largely self-funding this project, we hope to be able to make a more expansive game this way. More importantly, we want to build a community on Kickstarter, like like we did with Shovel Knight.”

Yacht Club Games didn’t mention a release date for Mina the Hollower, but Shovel Knight launched 14 months after its Kickstarter campaign ended, after amassing more than $300,000 in a month. PC (via Steam) is the only platform on which this game has been confirmed, but the Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms are all mentioned as possible destinations for Mina the Hollower.

Updates on Shovel Knight spin-offs were also shared at Yacht Club Games Presents, such as a new character named Random Knight that will appear in the falling block puzzle game Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon. Three other DLC packs are also in development for the Pocket Dungeon that will include an online battle mode, new playable characters, relics and secrets, and mod support on PC.

Yacht Club Games also revealed that their upcoming SNES-style Shovel Knight Dig is in final development and shows off new gameplay from its bug-infested Grub Pit level.
