The Powerball jackpot has risen to $480 million after Saturday’s drawing failed to produce a winner.
No one has matched all six numbers for Saturday, October 15 for the $454 million jackpot. The upcoming jackpot will have a cash option of $242.2 million.
The lottery winning numbers drawn for Saturday were 32, 37, 40, 58 and 62, with a red powerball of 15. The powerplay was 5X.
There hasn’t been a grand prize winner since late July when a player in Pennsylvania won the $206.9 million jackpot.
Two winners scooped up the $494 million Mega Millions prize on Friday night. It was the 11th largest jackpot in Mega Millions history. There hadn’t been a winner since late July, when a player won a $1.337 billion prize, which was the second largest prize in the game’s history.
Powerball jackpot winners must match the six numbers on their ticket to the six number combination drawn. Five numbers from 1 to 69 must be selected for the white balls, and a number from 1 to 26 is selected for the red Powerball.
There is a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the Powerball jackpot. Powerball draws are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
While lotteries award large sums of money, if you choose the cash option, the actual after-tax win is just over half of the total jackpot. There is an opportunity to receive profits with a retirement plan over three decades.
