Dalot, 22, joined the Red Devils from Porto for a transfer fee of £19m ahead of the 2018/19 season in a move that saw him link up with fellow Portuguese Jose Mourinho.
He made 55 appearances for United in all competitions, each coming in the number 20 shirt.
It’s a shirt with a legacy as rich at Old Trafford as it has been previously worn by strikers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Robin van Persie.
However, Dalot admits his first choice was the number 2 shirt – usually worn by a right-back – taken on by centre-back Lindelof in 2017.

He was asked what his favorite team number is and what it would be like to follow in the footsteps of Solskjaer and Van Persie in a Q&A on United’s official website.
Dalot replied: “Good questions. When I arrived at the club, I answered frankly to the reporter. I think he asked me the same question.”
“My favorite has always been the #2, then and now, it’s being worn by Victor. So it wasn’t available then and it’s not there yet.
“I just turned 20 that year, so the number 20 suits me very well.
“Seeing the legends have also worn this number, it’s a good number. I like it and hope it can bring me luck like it did for Robin and Ole.”
Dalot has enjoyed a piece of luck at the end of 2021 such as Ralf Rangnick replaces Solskjaer as a manager on an interim basis.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the first-choice right-back under Solskjaer but his successor seems to favor Dalot in the role and he has enjoyed a long starting line-up since early December. until mid-February.
While it remains to be seen who will play a more prominent role in the run-in, Dalot received lavish praise from his manager in January.
“He’s one of the best full-backs we could have,” Rangnick told MUTV of the player. “He still has room to improve in defensive actions, duels, predictability and close the gap between himself and his teammates.
“There is still room for improvement but he is still a player who can grow and learn. So far in the last few games he has played well and I am satisfied with his performance. that.”
