Disenchanted stars ‘fall in love’ with Ireland while filming here

The Disenchanted stars say they “fallen in love” with Ireland and become “friends forever” while filming the upcoming fairy tale blockbuster there.

Cast members including Idina Menzel and Patrick Dempsey have praised the “beautiful” countryside and friendly local crew members.

Disney’s upcoming sequel to 2007’s Enchanted was filmed on location in Ireland during the coronavirus pandemic, when much of the country was still under lockdown.

Speaking at the world premiere of Disenchanted in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Dempsey said: “I love Ireland.

“I like the west coast best and getting out of the city.

“We’re on lockdown so you can feel sad and frustrated, then when you’re out in the countryside it’s a completely different experience, so that’s great.”

Saturday Night Live star Maya Rudolph said they were “so lucky to be there” for the shoot.

“I love it, I can’t believe we were so lucky,” she said.

“And not only do we get to be in a beautiful place, (but) all the people we work with… most of them are locals and they’re pretty much the best people I’ve ever worked with. the same job.”

She added: “It was really a great movie… and we went to a place that we love and feel happy and we were very lucky to be there.

Menzel, who is known for voicing Elsa in Frozen, said the Irish production team “taken good care of us” during filming.

“(Ireland) is beautiful, and our crew are all Irish and that’s the best part,” she said.

“I’ve made friends forever, the hair and makeup guys took great care of us and showed us this country.”

When asked if she had trouble understanding the Irish accent, Menzel laughed and replied: “Not really, you get used to it pretty quickly.”

Disenchanted producer Barry Josephson added: “Whenever you’re staging a movie, you think about where we could get the perfect set… where’s the best place to make the movie? .

“Ireland is one of many places but it’s really the best place for us to do it.”

Disenchanted is available to stream on Disney+ from November 18.
