Pixar’s most recent film, “Toy Story” – adjacent to “Lightyear”, is also set in outer space, although it has proven to be a box office disappointment here on Earth. land (our reviewer rates it as a “bold go-fi-movie where many viewers -fi movies have gone before”). The premise of “Lightyear”, based on an existing IP, is likely. confusing the audience that the film featured Chris Evans (who took the lead role from Tim Allen) tweet“To be clear, this is not a Buzz Lightyear toy. This is the Buzz Lightyear human origin story the toy is based on.”
“Elio” sounds like the kind of fresh, original storytelling that Pixar has built its brand on. Prior to “Lightyear”, three of Pixar’s previous films, “Turning Red”, “Luca”, and “Soul” were aired directly due to the pandemic, which is a pity because they all received better reviews than the mid-range Lightyear. With any luck, “Elio” will mark Pixar’s return to form and help restore the studio to some of its former glory.
“Elio” will premiere in the spring of 2024.
