It’s known as the “happiest place on earth,” but for one couple, the Disney magic has been spoiled a little.
An unnamed man and woman recently took a trip to Disneyland Paris, where the gentleman had planned to pop the question to his girlfriend.
However, things didn’t quite go to plan, as revealed by a viral video of the big moment.
In a clip posted to Reddit, the man can be seen getting down on one knee on a raised stage area in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
He’s holding up the ring, ready to propose when he’s interrupted by a clerk running to him and snatching the box from his hand.
That post online is captioned, “POS ruined my best friend’s moment. He asked permission beforehand.”

After taking the ring from the man’s hands, the Disneyland employee leads the couple off the platform down to a metal gate and says, “Yeah, that’s great, but it gets even better over here.”
A series of boos are heard as onlookers watch the scene, clearly dumbfounded by what is going on.
The Reddit user, who shared the video with the username u/wasgehtlan, claimed in the comments that his friend asked a Disney employee for permission to apply on the platform, and she gave him the green light.
But then the man ran towards him and grabbed the ring.
The proposal material received over 9,600 comments on Reddit and was also shared on Twitter, where it was seen by thousands more people.
Many were outraged by the couple, with one calling the employee “a little bit nasty” for spoiling the moment.
“I know it seems small but I really think you have to be a bit naughty to do that lol. Like it’s just absurdly mean,” one person proclaimed.
Another wrote: “The way he walked up there proves it to me. He wanted to get there just in time to grab the ring at the perfect moment, so he sprinted there. Could have easily let it happen and moved her soon after. “
A third wrote: “Credit to the guy for not getting angry. A great character portrayal for your wife-to-be.”
“He was already on his knees! Let him finish at that point and then kick him out if you want,” exclaimed an incredulous viewer.
However, not everyone thought the Disney worker was wrong, with some branding him a “hero.”
Someone else said: “Public proposals are a nightmare. This man is a hero for preventing that from happening.”
Another user pointed out that the man is just doing his job, adding: “You are in a no-guest zone on a stage. So basically a restricted area. And the employee who gave the permission probably didn’t have the right to do so.”
Disney has since apologized to the couple for the way the incident was “handled”.
A spokesman for Disney said News Week: “We regret how this was handled. We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”
The Mirror has contacted Disneyland Paris for further comment.
