DJ Tim Westwood denies multiple allegations of sexual misconduct
DJ Tim Westwood has been accused of sexual misconduct against several women in incidents dating back to 1992.
Three women accuse the 64-year-old radio and television presenter of opportunistic and predatory sexual behavior. Another four claimed Westwood groped them at events he was performing at.
The seven women agreed The guard and BBC News as part of a joint investigation into the former Radio 1 DJ. The unnamed women, all black, are believed to have been in their late teens or early 20s when the alleged incidents took place.
None “had reported their interactions to the police,” according to the newspaper. But they “decided to share their stories following anonymous allegations of inappropriate behavior against Westwood that circulated on social media in June 2020.”
During interviews on BBC Three documentary Tim Westwood: Abuse of powerwhich aired last night, three of the women said they had each separately arranged to meet Westwood in London to discuss working in the music industry.
The trio, who were reportedly 17, 19 and 20 at the time, all claimed he took them to an apartment and initiated unwanted sex.
Four other women accused Westwood of taking pictures of themselves with his butt or chest at various events.
Westwood has vigorously denied all of the allegations, which a spokesman called completely false.
After allegations about the DJ’s behavior first surfaced on social media two years ago under the hashtag #SurvivingTimWestwood, he issued a statement HuffPost UKwho said he was “aware of attempts by anonymous sources to post fabricated allegations online.”
“I can confirm that such allegations are false and unfounded,” he said.
