Do-it-yourself mother builds a “privacy wall” in the garden to keep her distance from the neighbors

A DIY-savvy mom who shares her yard with her neighbors built her own “privacy wall” around her patio to give herself some space — and people online are loving it

A mom who shares her yard with her neighbors has come up with an ingenious way to add some much-needed privacy to her patio.

The mother shared a video on tick tock in which she revealed that she was building a DIY “privacy wall” in her backyard that would give her and her both Neighbors some space in their shared outdoor space without the need for a full fence.

And mom put one together too beautiful patio area with benches and a table made of pallets with backrests that served as a windbreak on breezy summer days.

In her first Videothe mother was seen putting up her privacy screen – which was made of thin strips of wood to form a fence-like structure with small gaps in between – and painting it with teak oil to protect it from UV rays and water stains.

The woman posting under the username @homebyandrafollowed by a second video showing their fully finished patio area with comfy cushions, blankets and a rug.

And people can’t get enough of the mom’s savvy outdoor space as her video was inundated with comments from people saying they loved what she’d done with her patio.

One person said: “What a wonderful use of space, ideal as the nights get warmer, imagine relaxing with a glass of wine.”

While another added: “This is so beautiful. I would love to do this for my back garden.”

The mother, who rents out her property, used a five pack of C16 treated lumber 2×3 to build the wall and drilled them vertically into the patio to match the height of the wall.

Next, she began drilling 1 x 2 slate body treated softwood horizontally across the taller ones to create a slate effect wall, which she then covered with teak oil.

In all, the mum’s project raised £150 – which is a steal compared to the cost of a fence.

And people were ecstatic to hear how cheaply the privacy screen could be completed, as one person said, “About moving to where the fence is only 4 feet between houses.” I was looking for privacy ideas. Thank you for the inspiration.”
