Who is Charlie Kray?
Charlie Kray (born 1927) is an English criminal and amateur boxer, the older brother of Ronnie and Reggie Kray.
He is the son of Charles and Violet Kray, and has lived most of his life on the show played by his older brothers, who are seven years younger than him.
The three brothers shared a room at 178 Vallance Street, Bethnal Green.
Charlie became the guardian of the twins during World War II, where they had to move from London to Suffolk.
Charlie last suffered a stroke in 1999 and was hospitalized the following March due to a heart attack.
Reggie is brought to see Charlie, and this is the first time the brothers have seen each other since Ronnie’s funeral in 1995.
A former criminal, who knows the Krays well, revealed: “It is obviously wrong to say that Charlie is the brains behind the Kray empire, Reggie is. Charlie doesn’t look like twins, whatever other people say. He is a gentleman.
“It is true that he has reaped some benefits from being their brother, but he has also paid a very, very high price.”
Does Charlie Kray have any children?
Charlie had a son with ex-wife Doris Moore on July 3, 1951 named Gary Kray.
It is also reported that he has a daughter named Nancy, but during a heated argument with Doris, it is revealed that Nancy is not his daughter but George Ince.
Though heartbroken by the news, Charlie decides to stay with her for the sake of the children and even loves Nancy as if she were his own.
His son Gary died of cancer on March 8, 1995, at the age of forty-four, just four years before his father.
A few years after Charlie’s death in April 2000 from heart disease, it was reported that Nancy had requested that his body be exhumed for a DNA test to prove he was indeed her father.
Nancy is still alive today, aged 56, and has since spoken out about her traumatic past involving the Kray family.
