Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may create a more formidable fate for Mordo

The storyboard, seen above, comes from storyboard artist Jeremy Simser. Share art on Instagram, Simser explained that since screenwriter Michael Waldron shared details of the culled story of Mordo’s death in the audio commentary on the new “Multiverse of Madness” digital release, he thinks the share how it will come down as appropriate.

The storyboard artist describes in his caption that it wasn’t until “very late in the process” that the team scrapped the idea. The creators behind the MCU are known to have made many last-minute changes to their movies, something that has been a topic of discussion ever since. Interestingly this deleted scene is still not a canonical image, with the main road 616 Baron Mordo still alive and kicking somewhere.

Baron Mordo is sharing the spotlight with Doctor Strange coming from an alternate Earth, replacing the “real” Mordo, who parted ways with Doctor Strange in the 2016 film with the ominous warning that ultimately, ” the bill will be overdue.” Now, the only question that remains is, what was it about Mordo that made the creators behind “Multiverse of Madness” forgive the main continuity version of the character?

Feige and the team at Marvel Studios are always looking to the future, so the only logical answer, at this point, is that Mordo has a more important role than just cannon fodder for Wanda Maximoff. Only time will tell when Mordo will reappear, but one can safely assume that when the bill comes due for Doctor Strange, he will be there.
