An adorable dog was abandoned on the street with a bag full of toys and a heartbreaking message from her owner.

The dog, known as Baby Girl, was tied to a fire hydrant in Green Bay, Wisconsin, America before being rescued by the Humane Society.

Although Animal Rescue didn’t share the owner’s note, they explained that she was unable to attend to her pet’s needs due to the dog’s health concerns and her own health.

The team took Baby Girl for a routine check-up, which found she had diabetes mellitus, also known as canine diabetes, which can lead to elevated blood sugar.

Because of her health issues, she requires daily glucose monitoring, a restricted diet, and insulin injections at home.

A spokeswoman said: “It can be an expensive condition to treat, requiring monthly purchases of insulin and possibly other medical supplies.

“Overall, it’s possible that this could cost hundreds of dollars a month, depending on your own vet’s assessment and the cost of supplies in your area.”

They explained that the owner’s decision to give up their pet was an “act of desperation,” and they have thanked her for asking for help and trying to do the best for her dog.

Speaking directly to the owner, a spokeswoman said: “First and foremost, we are so sorry you had to part with your best friend.

“It’s evident how much you loved her and we can see that you did your best while struggling with your own medical complications and life challenges.

“We see your love in the bag you carefully packed with all her favorite things.

“We see your love in how you tied her leash so she wouldn’t get hit by a car.

“We see your love by the way you placed her in the middle of a neighborhood where she would be found quickly.

“We see your love in how happy and healthy Baby Girl looks.

“And we see your love in the note you left begging someone to help her when you can’t anymore.”

The animal rights group thanks the owner for putting baby girl first and welcomes anonymous no-questions-asked surrenders.

“We see that you did what you thought was best for your beloved pup and we are grateful for your compassion,” they added.

“Rest assured that she is safe, she is getting a lot of attention from our team.

“We wish you all the best and hope that by seeing this you can rest a little better knowing that there is a bright future ahead for your baby girl.”

Just days after being taken in by animal rights groups, Baby Girl secured a new home – and her previous owner couldn’t be happier.

The spokeswoman added: “The international response to this pup’s story has been overwhelming and the kindness shown to her previous owner has truly filled our hearts to the brim.

“We have been in contact with the previous owner and were grateful for the opportunity to get in touch with her and accommodate her desire for Baby Girl to find a new home.

“We passed on supportive resources offered to her by this generous community. She expressed her gratitude and joy that baby girl would soon find her next loving home.”
