Dog attack in Liverpool: Five American Bulldogs destroyed and man arrested after woman killed

Five American bulldogs were destroyed and a man arrested after a woman died after a dog attack.

The 63-year-old woman died at the scene in Liverpool on Monday evening.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said a 31-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of owning a dangerously runaway dog ​​and was in custody.

The spokesman added, “Five American bulldogs that were on the property were surrendered and have since been humanely destroyed.”

The woman has not yet been formally identified, but her next of kin have been informed and an autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death, the force said.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: “This is clearly a very disturbing incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the late woman.

“Our investigations are ongoing as we try to determine what happened and I would urge anyone who might assist our investigations to get in touch.”
