A rescue dog found next to a park bench with a heartbreaking note beside him is still waiting to find his forever home.
Two years ago, Boston, a golden retriever mix, was found tied to a bench on an emotional note, weighted down with a rock, next to him in Mexico City.
Since then he has been showered with love as the child hoped, but he has yet to find his forever home.
When Boston was found, he was starving, with nothing to eat or drink, when Marcela Goldberg of the Mascotas Coyoacán animal shelter saw him.
She came across the note, which read in part: “Please I beg of you to adopt this sweet dog and take good care of him.
“It hurts a lot to leave my dog here but I made the decision to leave him because my family used to abuse him and it would always hurt me to see him in this condition.”
Boston was “extremely terrified” at the time, but his demeanor relaxed when he was cleared of the bench on November 22, 2020.
“He was tied up so much that I had to untie the collar from the leash, which was impossible without being bitten,” Marcela said at the time.
“So I had to put a new leash around his neck and cut out the one that was holding him to the bench.”
In new video footage, Boston was seen sipping the affection of a shelter worker.
The pooch wrestled, snuggled and rolled around in the grass as he nuzzled his nose to hers as she stroked his tummy.
Staffers said Boston is “very strong” and is now in “perfect health” as they continue their search for a loving owner for him.
A spokesman said Daily Star : “It was very gratifying to see him develop from that scared and fearful dog to this young, loving and energetic dog.
“And at the same time [ it is ] frustrating that he has not been able to find a home, partly because of his high activity level and partly because of the huge drop in adoptions after the first year of the pandemic.”
They describe his personality and the kind of owner he needs: “He is extremely active and loves to play with other dogs. He also likes to play with balls and lives with cats.
“[He] is a very strong dog, although he is not that big.
“The person most like [ has to have ] space and other dogs or [ be someone] who does a lot of sports with him.”
