Donegal’s Sliabh Liag Distillers plans to raise €2 million in a funding round

Sliabh Liag Distillers, a Co Donegal whiskey, gin and vodka company, plans to raise €2 million through crowdfunding in a new funding round, with the founders valuing the company at €29 million.

The company is looking to increase production capacity at its Ardara distillery in Co Donegal. She hopes to increase the distillery’s output from 440,000 liters to 600,000 liters per year.

James Doherty, managing director and co-founder of Sliabh Liag Distillers, said the expected demand over the coming years is now the right time to invest in bolstering production.

He added that 1.3 million euros have already been pledged by previous investors.

Sliabh Liag Distillers built its Ardara Distillery following previous successful rounds of financing. These included a significant investment by Japanese beverage giant Asahi, support from former SABMiller executives and a previous successful crowdfunding campaign in 2020.

The new crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube will start later this month and will run for four weeks.

Sales volumes of all Sliabh Liag Distillers brands – including Silkie Irish Whiskey – increased by 166 per cent in 2021. Donegal’s Sliabh Liag Distillers plans to raise €2 million in a funding round
