China: Boeing 737 crashes near Wuzhou

The doomed Boeing, which killed 132 people when it fell from the sky, was “sabotaged by someone in the cockpit,” findings from the plane’s black box show.

The China Eastern Airlines 737-800 landed in the country’s southern province of Guangxi on March 14.

It was the deadliest air disaster in mainland China in 28 years, it has been confirmed.

Experts initially suspected that pilots aboard the passenger plane may have lost consciousness as the plane crashed toward the ground before briefly waking up.

However the Wall Street Journal claimed today the preliminary assessment by US officials analyzed both black boxes and made a disturbing discovery.

Large pieces of debris were seen near the disaster area as early as March

The government laboratory in Washington, DC indicates that someone in the cockpit deliberately brought down the giant jet.

Reuters reports that the crew is under investigation after the probe found no evidence of a technical malfunction.

In April, a report issued by China’s Civil Aviation Administration confirmed that no “anomalies” had been found on the plane.

Pictures show the crash left a huge 65-foot-deep crater in the side of the mountains.

The devastation was so great that a fire was started in the surrounding forest.

More than 49,000 pieces of aircraft debris were found.

Flight MU5735 left the city of Kunming at 1:11 p.m. local time and was scheduled to arrive in Guangzhou at 3:05 p.m.

But as it prepared to descend, the plane lost altitude and fell thousands of feet in a matter of seconds.

CCTV footage showed the doomed airline falling to the ground in a sheer chasm

Although it briefly regained altitude to nearly 9,000 feet, it hit the ground at an estimated 350 miles per hour in a hilly forested area near the city of Wuzhou.

China Eastern has grounded all of its Boeing 737-800s as a precaution.

In a statement, the airline – one of the three largest in China – expressed “their deepest condolences to the passengers and crew who have passed away”.

Data from flight tracking website showed MU5735 was traveling at an altitude of about 30,000 feet when it suddenly entered a deep dive at its cruising speed of 823 km/h.

The data suggests that the plane crashed within a minute and a half of the cause of the disaster.

Shanghai-based China Eastern is one of the country’s three largest airlines, serving domestic and international routes to 248 destinations.

The twin-engine, single-aisle Boeing 737 is one of the world’s most popular aircraft for short- and medium-haul flights.

Boeing declined to comment on the US. Preliminary assessment of officials.
