Doubts about Kaoru Mitoma for Brighton ahead of Forest game

Albion hope for a turnaround – including good news about Kaoru Mitoma.

The Japan winger left the Gtech Community Stadium on crutches after Friday’s 2-0 defeat by Brentford.

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi is expected to update on Mitoma’s condition today.

It is understood that Albion may have been careful with the player as he left the stadium.

He didn’t stop for his usual post-match interviews with the Japanese reporters, who are following his progress closely.

However, he stayed on the pitch after being hit on the ankle – and went over to applaud the fans after the game.

A quick turnaround could put him off taking on Nottingham Forest at the Amex tomorrow (7.30pm).

De Zerbi spent the weekend contemplating his game plan against Forest after realizing his side weren’t making the most of the 21 shots on goal and 72% possession they had in west London.

He told The Argus: “I’m positive. I’m still convinced of the potential of our team. We played three very good games. I want to think about getting better.

“There is no doubt that three games of the quality we have produced would have deserved more than a point, but football is like that.

“I consider myself a lucky person – but not so lucky in the last three games!” Doubts about Kaoru Mitoma for Brighton ahead of Forest game
