DOZENS of flights to and from Gatwick Airport have been delayed due to “late staff absences”.
Almost 50 departures were delayed.
Some arrivals are also delayed, some by up to six hours.
One passenger said he was currently waiting on the tarmac at Pula Airport in Croatia “due to a shortage of air traffic controllers” at Gatwick.

He added that it could take up to two and a half hours for launch.
A Gatwick Airport spokeswoman said: “The number of flights that can arrive at Gatwick has been restricted due to the delayed absence of staff in the airport’s control tower.
“Unfortunately, some flights during the day may be delayed or canceled as a result.
“Gatwick would like to apologize for any inconvenience this causes our passengers.”
Last week the airport canceled around 26 easyJet flights due to “delayed absences of staff in the airport’s control tower”.
