The Queen’s death and funeral earlier this week drew global attention and there was considerable grief in Britain. I am always fascinated when there is great public mourning for a person whom they do not know personally. It may be that the death of a public figure, while sad in itself, will reflect, magnify, or commemorate other significant losses in our personal lives.

We tend to bury trauma deep within our inner world of emotions. We can’t keep the feelings too close to the surface all the time as they tend to be overwhelming and so we naturally push them aside and often use healthy ways to distract ourselves.
