The estranged husband of TV weight loss expert Dr. Eva Orsmond, Wyatt, has revealed he’s found love again after their shock split.
The couple’s divorce was finalized last Friday week and Wyatt wishes the still single Eva all the best in her own love hopes.
Finnish Eva and South African-born Wyatt lived in Wicklow with their two Irish-raised adult sons before launching a €3m wellness and health hotel project in Portugal.
After temporarily separating in 2016, their relationship fell apart again two years ago when they starred in the new Dr. were filming Eva’s Great Escape for RTÉ TV – and the couple decided it was finally time to break up for good.
While Operation Transformation’s expert Eva admits she’s single and looking for love, Wyatt has confided that he’s in a new relationship with another woman.
When asked if he’d found anyone else, he replied, “Yes, I have. She would be in the area but we will keep it private. It’s pretty new, after things with Eva and I you’re on your own out here and nature takes its course.”
He laughs at any hint that he’s a romantic at heart. “No, not really,” he says.
Wyatt doesn’t want to reveal whether Eva met the new lady.
“Let’s just keep this private. It’s my relationship and it’s my life,” he claims.

The couple had been married for 27 years and had previously been together for two years, having first met in South Africa and then moving to Ireland in 2000.
“We had previously been separated and we tried the project (the hotel),” he says. “We probably took on the wrong project for this, because of the intensity and the stress and everything that this project entails. Even if we hadn’t had any problems before, I think it would have found the cracks.
“It’s one of those things that just happens, you can’t help it. If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen and you just deal with it.
“It wasn’t going so well before that. The project was more about trying to get it working again, so I find it unfair to say it was the straw that broke the backbone. We were trying to fix something that obviously couldn’t be fixed.”
But Wyatt insists he wishes Eva well in her own romantic future.
“Absolutely, yes, everyone needs to move on. You have to keep going, it’s part of life.”
In the first episode of “Dr. Eva’s Great Escape, viewers will see Wyatt scolding his ex-wife for not helping build the Solar Alvura Hotel or doing things like painting the walls while she was doing yoga or learning Portuguese.
“She’s not a very practical person, she’s better at other things, etc.,” he says. “But yeah, she’d get her hands dirty if she had the time.
“The last thing Eve is is lazy. She always has a million things to do… She has her own priorities and I have mine.
“I think in any relationship, whether it’s a personal relationship or a business relationship or even just a friendship, there will always be disagreements.”
On the show, Eva quarrels with her interior designer and decides to impose her own plans for choosing curtains and headboards. Wyatt confirms that Eva was in control, but doesn’t go so far as to brand her a “control freak.”
“Yes, she can be controlling,” he concedes. “She’s very sure of things. She definitely wants things to be done her way. Sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s wrong.
“I wouldn’t necessarily call it a control freak. She likes being the boss.”
Although now divorced, the two will continue to run their chain of health clinics in Ireland and run the hotel in Portugal that Wyatt says was Eva’s idea.
“Eva, she was always looking for a place like this. I think it was an idea that came from the clinics and she always had this idea to build this weight loss prison where clients can really escape all temptation and find a place.
“Almost every time we went on vacation somewhere, be it Italy or wherever, she would always look at properties, always having that idea in mind.”
He thrived on the project.
“In any clinic in Ireland we would have found a run down or tiny property and completely remodeled it. So that was the part of the business I’ve always managed – remodeling and renovating.”
Wyatt admits that while he loved his time in Ireland, he plans to remain in Portugal.
“I’ve been here for almost five years and I feel pretty comfortable here,” he says. “It’s an environment I like. While many Irish might find this place too hot and too warm for them, I just love it.”
He describes himself as the general handyman at the hotel.
“So in the long run, Eva will really run the hotel and I’ll just take care of the maintenance.” The hotel is all inclusive. Meals, drinks, absolutely everything. Yoga classes, personal training and even right now they start something like the seven day weight loss package, then obviously the program includes all this extra support and training and assessments and everything else.
“Although at first glance it might seem a bit more expensive than other places, I think it’s actually good value for money and unique when you actually start adding everything else.
He and his team also want to build and renovate other properties in Portugal and advise anyone who needs his help to contact him through his hotel or on Facebook.
Dr Eva’s Great Escape begins Monday 8 August on RTÉ One at 9.35pm
