ITV’s Dr Hilary discussed the upcoming soap plot with Lorraine Kelly on Thursday’s show, with the much-loved Marlon’s near-stroke drama serving as a warning to small audiences. age.
“Hopefully this will provide more information on what to do if someone has a stroke and what we should do about it,” Lorraine said.
Dr Hilary replied: “It also reinforces the fact that young people can have a stroke, not just the elderly. We want people to remember the acronym FAST. Act quickly.”
Dr Hilary explains the four points of the acronym to help viewers spot the early warning signs of a stroke, with the F standing for the word ‘face’.
“Look for any drops of water in the mouth, if a person can’t smile, that’s a warning sign,” says Dr. Hilary.
The A stands for arm, with the GP saying that if someone can’t raise both hands above their head, that’s a sign of a stroke.
He added that the S is for speech, saying: “They can either speak clearly or be livid and they can understand what you’re saying.”
He said the T stands for time, adding: “It’s urgent, so call 999 if you see someone with these types of symptoms and signs and record the time when the symptoms occurred. The evidence started because it’s important in allowing medical professionals to determine whether an injection is dissolving. a blood clot is timely or not. ”
He added: “Put people in a recovery position if they pass out. That acronym just reminds people what the signs are and to act quickly.”
