The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations are in full swing in London, kicking off with Trooping The Colour.

And there’s even more fun to be had over the weekend as the extravaganza concludes with the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday 5th June.

The pageant will bring iconic moments from the Queen’s 70-year reign to life and showcase the changes in society during that time in a creative and unique way.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Vanity Milan will be taking part in the pageant, parading her stuff on a float to celebrate all things ’90s and recreating big fashion moments from the era.

She will be joined by three other British drag race queens – Ella Vayday, Blu Hydrangea and Baga Chipz.

Speaking to The Mirror, Vanity shared how “blessed” she felt to be a part of such a special event.

“I’m really excited to be a part of it,” she said. “It’s known as The People’s Pageant, so you know people across the UK and Commonwealth are getting involved and coming together to do something extraordinary like this.

“It’s a blessing to actually be a part of it, especially when you’re part of thousands of creative people.

“The car I’m in represents the ’90s and fashion, and I think that really goes hand in hand.

“I’m a ’90s baby, that’s the era I grew up in, so it’s exciting to represent the ’90s and do what I do best, which is being a drag queen and doing it on my float for sale.”

Vanity went on to share some details about her outfit for the pageant and how she’s looking forward to bringing back more of the ’90s.

“The looks are inspired by the 90’s decade, the model Liz Hurley, Geri Halliwell from The Spice Girls, Alexander McQueen and my look is very much inspired by Naomi Campbell.

“My husband is a designer so we worked closely together to make sure we were on target.

“When it comes to my general drag, anyway I get my inspiration from the ’90s – the music and the fashion – it’s good to bring that into 2022.

“I love it when things come back. It’s a really good thing. You can see all the ruffles and buckles and straps again.”

The ’90s float will be part of the ‘Time of Our Lives’ section of the pageant and Vanity is confident the Queen will ‘love’ it.

“I think she will [love it]’ she admits.

“It’s a celebration, so everyone will be happy.”

She adds, “It shows how we can all get together, no matter where you’re from, and just celebrate and be together and love one another because love always wins.”

The platinum competition starts at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 5:00 p.m. You can watch on BBC One, Sky or ITV.
