Driver gets stuck in a barrier after trying to dodge Stansted Airport parking bill

A driver who attempted to avoid a hefty parking fee at Standsted Airport after parking in the wrong space has now been seized by police

A driver who attempted to evade a £500 bill from Standsted Airport was eventually seized by police.
Essex Police visited the airport car park after a vehicle got stuck as the driver tried to drive around the barriers, he reports EssexLive.
The driver attempted to avoid the nearly £500 parking fee by driving around the barriers, police claim.
The force also said when officers arrived to see what was happening, they also found the driver was disqualified and shouldn’t have been driving the car at all.
As a result, Essex Police impounded his vehicle.
To make matters worse, the driver also has to pay the hefty parking fee.
Essex Police at Stansted Airport tweeted about the incident: “Please remember to pay for your car park [at Stansted Airport].
“This driver tried to avoid payment, got stuck going around the barrier and to top off his bad day… he was a disqualified driver. His car has been impounded by Essex Police and he still owes £496 in parking fees! “
In order to collect such a high parking fee, the car would have had to be parked in the short-term parking lot for a total of eight days.
Short term parking is £62 per 24 hours if not booked in advance.
Meanwhile, airports across the UK have been hit by long queues as people try to get away for the summer.
Huge queues were reported at Manchester Airport this morning.
Images showed the queue snaking out of Terminal 2 early this morning and stretching along the walkway towards Terminal 1.
And last week it emerged that Ryanair cabin crew are planning strikes in Europe.
Strikes are planned in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium, which could affect services on UK routes.
