A DESPERATE driver refilled gas cans yesterday as fuel prices continued to soar.
He was spotted on a North London foreground trying to beat the steepest weekly rise in pump prices in 18 years.
Rates of 3.8p on petrol and 5.2p on diesel, partly due to the war in Ukraine, have brought the cost of refueling a family car up to £2.
MPs are calling on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to cut fuel tax by 5p.
Iain Duncan Smith, a former Tory leader, told The Sun: “We need the economy to grow, not to pull more and more out of people’s pockets and incomes.”
AA’s Luke Bosdet said: “A single freeze order won’t reassure many motorists.
“The prime minister will need to deliver more.”
