DRIVES went out to the council parking lot with 130 different fees.
They range from 38p in 15 minutes to £38.75 over six hours, depending on the engine’s emissions range and whether it meets European standards.
Broadcaster Danny Baker, 64, tweeted a picture of a cryptic tax sign in Blackheath, South London.
“Got to the same parking lot that I have used for 25 years,” he said.
“Glad to see the council’s new fair pay system which in no way shows they have too much time on their hands.”
Graham Cope wrote: “Clear as mud.”
Tim Hopkins added: “I bet the region is full of Band 1, Euro 6 compliant vehicles. Whatever they are. Probably skateboards.”
Electric vehicles like the Toyota Yaris Hybrid are in Band 1, while the Range Rover Sport 5.0 is in Band 13.
Cars sold in Europe must meet emissions standards – starting with Euro 1 in 1993. Euro 7 could arrive in 2025.
Lewisham Councilor Patrick Codd said the move was meant to encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport.
