Drivers split opinion with ‘controversial’ parking tactic in front of shopping center – whose side are you on?

A DRIVER’s opinion is divided because of his “controversial” parking tactics in front of a shopping center.

Facebook user Neil Sutton shared a photo of a badly parked white Vauxhall Astra with the popular social media site.

The image shows the small engine with the driver’s side clearly protruding beyond the white lines in the mall parking lot.

The vehicle to the left of the Vauxhall is just inside the lines of their parking bay, making it unclear why the driver chose to park that way.

Mr Sutton sarcastically captioned the post: “Dear people in these massive cars that are too wide to fit in a bay.”

While the post drew a lot of attention, it also divided viewers as a number of theories surfaced as to why the car was poorly parked.

One user wrote, “Don’t excuse the parking, but let’s face it, the parking lots and councils take the p**s with the amount of space you don’t have to open the car door.”

While many noted that the car on the right side also seems to be parked very poorly.

Some suggested that if it was there first, it might have influenced the Vauxhall’s positioning.

One Facebook user wrote: “Maybe the white car had to park there because another car was awkwardly parked before.”

A second added: “Unfortunately these photos are rarely of when a car actually drives onto the square. I know I parked over lines when parking other vehicles was where I need to be.

“90% of the time people parked in the available space because of the cars around them – one picture never tells the whole story.”

A third agreed, posting, “If those cars had been there before I would have parked like that too…space for my doors, space for the cars on either side door…otherwise waste of a perfectly good space.”

While some parents offered different explanations for the shaky parking.

One mother said: “As a mother of a 4 month old I had to do this to get my child out of my car.

“There tends to be no children’s places or they are always too full because there aren’t enough. You have to do what you have to do!”

This prompted another mum to reply: “I feel the same way, it’s difficult to get a car seat in and out when there’s a car next to you. I’d rather park like an asshole than hit someone’s car.”

It comes as other drivers were frustrated after filming numerous cars parked horribly at another mall.

Meanwhile, a woman who’s fed up with people parking badly revealed she’s carrying notes to stick on cars if she sees it.
