A drunk man pushed a Garda and ran from oncoming traffic as he stumbled through Dublin city center with a bottle in hand.
ernard Horgan (35) was fined 250 euros for public order offences.
Horgan, with an address at a downtown hostel, pleaded guilty to Garda disability, threatening, abusive and abusive conduct and public intoxication.
Dublin District Court heard that on O’Connell Street, Gardaí found the accused stumbling in the middle of the street, a bottle of alcohol in hand.
He was a danger to himself, oncoming traffic and the public and Gardaí confiscated and destroyed the bottle he had.
Horgan slurred his words and “made no sense” when spoken to.
He pushed back a garda before attempting to run away, the court heard. Horgan fell in front of the GPO, got up, and ran back into traffic.
He also insulted Gardaí when arrested. He had 134 prior convictions for misdemeanor and other criminal offenses.
Horgan is from Cork but has been in Dublin for a few months, his solicitor Yvonne Bambury said.
She said Horgan has a mental disorder and consumed alcohol that day.
