Dua Lipa and Margaret Atwood announced as part of the Hay Festival 2023 lineup

Dua Lipa and Margaret Atwood have been announced as part of the squad at the 2023 Hay Festival in Wales.

The chart-topping 27-year-old singer, who delivered a keynote speech at this year’s Booker Awards, will record her podcast, Dua Lipa: At Your Service, at the 36th literary event in Hay-on-Wye.

Lipa spoke with Olympic athlete Mo Farah, Dan Levy of Schitt’s Creek and Trevor Noah of The Daily Show as part of her series of interviews.

She said: “I have wanted to explore Hay’s bookstores and experience the literary atmosphere of the Hay Festival for a long time.

“So I’m excited that I’ll be there next year to share stories on stage and in real life with some of my favorite authors, and to spark inspiration with them. with my book-loving friends.”

Lipa will join two-time Booker Prize winner Atwood, who will tell audiences about her collection of short stories, Old Babes In The Wood.

Sir Michael Parkinson will share his sports writing in My Sporting Life: Memories, Moments And Statements.

The 87-year-old broadcaster interviewed boxer and world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali and is a friend of George Best, who played for Manchester United.

Alexander McCall Smith also celebrates the 25th anniversary of his book Number 1 Women’s Detective Agency, which was adapted into a critically acclaimed series and won a Peabody Award.

Scottish rock duo The Proclaimers, from popular group I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), will perform as part of musical, comedy and speech events.
