When the Athena update comes along dual universenot only will it bring the PvP that warns everyone to prepare for war, but there will be an overhauled experience for new players as well as the introduction of the Aegis Market.
Aegis Market is a commercial hub that now gives players access to a bot-free market in the void of space. The market station will be in a zero-gravity environment to give players another option for cargo transport. You don’t need to stop and land to trade. This allows you to transport resources and sell them on the market with any working ship. This also works with the new alien core units if you’re transporting resources from everyone you own. There will be landing pads where ships can dock with teleporters that allow players to access the market. You don’t have to land, of course, but you can walk through the market. The Aegis Market is at the center of the safe zone, and there’s also a public warp signal that can take you there.
The developers note in a new blog that this market, as well as the space warfare included in this update, may “offer new design routes for the next generation of player-designed starships dual universe“.
If your game is player-driven, economy, and everything else ready to make your mark, player-designed starships are a potential worthwhile addition down the line. But for now, the Aegis Market will be here first.
The launch of the Aegis market will be the only one of its kind for now, but if the implementation is positive, with good player feedback, usefulness and functionality, they may add more markets in the future.
